Last week the DebWrt forum was installed. Discussions which tended to take place using trac tickets can now be continued on the forum.

One of the main goals was to get a Trac site running for DebWrt allowing us to publish all our work to the world. This includes a public SVN repository, a development wiki and a ticket/bug hunt system. Now this is all in place, it was time to get a more DebWrt main site with more “eye-candy” to it. But also allowing easy posting of news etc. Well…here it is!! 🙂

I’m proud to announce that DebWrt 2.0 is final. After a lot of work, DebWrt 2.0 is finally there. Downloads available for brcm47xx boards (Asus and compatible) and for ar71xx/rspro (RouterStation Pro). Debian root filesystems available for MIPS and MIPSEL! Enjoy!

DebWrt build environment now feature complete: compile the kernel for the selected architecture, cross-compile some DebWrt specific required Debian packages using an Emdebian cross-compile environment, create a debian rootfs for the selected architecture. All this using menuconfig and some easy make commands. More info on how to download and use the build environment: Use the trac site to browse SVN sources, the wiki and see the status of bugs.

Since b43 is still after years not working stable, this might be the only way to get stable wireless. Modprobe wl and iwlist scan work. Working on getting nas software cross-compiled. More info:

An extensive build environment, allowing easy configuring and compiling of the OpenWrt kernel with DebWrt patches and changes automatically applied. Support not only for MIPSEL, but also for all devices/architectures supported by OpenWrt. See the new DebWrt site and check the DebWrt build environment out: http:/

When system load increases on the system the wireless connections is lost. That is, the wireless connection is still available, but no IP packets are transmitted any more. When using a USB disk/stick as root device this problem occurs very quickly. When using stock OpentWrt?, it is a little harder to reproduce. But it will happen. See the following ticket on OpenWrt: 7552 I hope that the OpenWrt people will be able to fix this problem. Until then, no new release for bcm47xx / b43 based devices.

See for README and downloads. Unfortunately I still experience problems with b43 stability.

The b43 is now supposed to be stable for kernel 2.6, so no reason anymore to hold back DebWrt releases. This week a testing version will appear in the testing section of this site. A new release will be created after sufficient testing. Note: no 2.4 kernel based release anymore!!!
