Post Support for mikrotik routers

Hello,
Mikrotik makes nice routers with a modified linux on it.

The most interesting part of their "routeros" is that it supports virtualization on mips/ppc hardware they produce.

If you look here:

http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Metarouter

They can run openwrt as a guest os.

Can you do a debwrt port to metarouter (it is the name of their virtualization technology)?

Thanks in advance for any reply!

Mario

If it runs openwrt it will most likely run debwrt.

Hey, I looked at it conceptually and it looks interesting. Since OpenWrt supports the device then DebWrt should work probably just fine, as stevester noted. DebWrt uses a slighty different configured but full OpenWrt kernel. Are there any specifc vm geust tools needed in OpenWrt? If so then only these need to be ported to DebWrt, which is probably relatively easy. If not, then you are good to go.

It would be appreciated if you update the hardware overview in DebWrt if you got this to work.

Hello, has anybody tried building DebWrt for the Mikrotik Metarouter VM?

I'm really interested on this, but unfortunately I don't have the skills to do it myself... I'm a very basic Unix/Linux user.

If anyone is interested and can help, I can get my hands dirty and make a try on this, but I'll need serious guidance on doing it.
