Post DebWrt on Asus WL500g (not deluxe)
on: July 25, 2016, 22:51

I had been running DebWrt on my Routerstation Pro for two and half years as my main local/home server (finally switched to "full grown" x86 server due to increase of demands ...). Now I purchased secondhand https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/asus/wl500g Asus wl500g with the parallel port as I need to connect parallel HP LaserJet 1100 into the network and it is just a briliant toy. However, regardless the fact that I am able to print directly from a Debian box, using default Asus firmware with "raw" printer support (basically just a pipe from a tcp port to the parallel on using http://p910nd.sourceforge.net/) it just prints a garbage. After googling around, I realized that this problem had not been fixed. So I am tempted to install DebWrt on the router and launch regular cups and make the printer work this way. I know, that openwrt is supported for this device, however my question is has anyone tried to get debwrt working on this Asus ?. Thanks for any feedback
